LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Dec, 2017 ) :The Metropolitan Corporation Lahore and Punjab Information Technology board on Friday launched an initiative to issue e-building permits for warehouses from e-Khidmat Centre.
Addressing the launching ceremony, P&D Secretary, Iftikhar Ali Sahoo said that launch of e-building permit issuance of warehouse from facilitation centre was part of the overall reform agenda that the Government of Punjab had envisaged to facilitate the public/investors.
He said that the programme intervention was to improve aggregate performance of the country in the 'Doing Business' indicators which fall under the jurisdiction of the province, like starting a business, registering property, dealing with construction permits and enforcing contracts.
He said that now issuance of construction permits would take only 21 days instead of more than 200 days, which would greatly benefit general public and investors and save their precious time. Through this initiative, investors would be provided a one-window facility, thus eliminating the need to visit various offices and reducing processing time, P&D Secretary added.
He said that Planning and Development Department, Government of the Punjab had embarked upon the agenda of improving investment climate in the province by improving aggregate performance on key 'Doing Business' indicators through collaborative approach involving private sector and development partners.
One of the important Doing Business indicators is issuance of building permits. Pakistan is currently standing at 141 on the indicator globally. P&D Department in collaboration with various agencies had taken a lead to improve our Doing Business indicator at the provincial level.
In this regard, a comprehensive Doing Business Reform Agenda was being implemented in Punjab Province, he added. Mayor Lahore, Col (r) Mubashir Javed, Secretary P&D Iftikhar Ali Sahoo, representative of the Punjab Information Technology Board, Project Implementation Unit staff, representatives of the CMO and DG, LG&CD also attended the inauguration ceremony hosted at Jinnah Hall, Lahore.
