LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Apr, 2018 ) :The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday ordered for implementation of 10 per cent reserved quota for women in pilots' recruitment in Pakistan International Airline (PIA).
Justice Muhammad Farrukh Irfan Khan passed these orders on a petition filed by a candidate, Komal Zafar, over ignoring women quota in pilots' recruitment process in PIA. The petitioner's counsel arguing before the court submitted that women were being ignored in recruitment process for filling pilots' vacancies despite 10 per cent quota in the policy.
He contended that the step was a violation of policy.
The counsel pleaded the court to issue directions for completing the recruitment process on posts reserved for the women as per policy. However, a PIA official submitted women quota was being implemented and more than 2013 women were serving on different slots in the national flag carrier.
He said that merit could not be ignored for pilot job as it was sensitive. At this, the court rejected the official's contentions observing that women were serving in Air Force as pilots. The court ordered to implement 10 per cent reserved quota for women in pilots' recruitment.
