KP Cabinet Approves Amendments In Laws Allowing To Construct 870 MW Power Project

The 50th meeting of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cabinet with Chief Minister Pervez Khattak here Wednesday approved amendments in the laws allowing to construct 870 megawatt Suki Kinary Hydropower Project with an estimated cost $1.8billion at forest land.
PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Apr, 2018 ) :The 50th meeting of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cabinet with Chief Minister Pervez Khattak here Wednesday approved amendments in the laws allowing to construct 870 megawatt Suki Kinary Hydropower Project with an estimated cost $1.8billion at forest land.
The cabinet also approved the use of 197 kanal and 14 marla land at Kotli Imam Hussain for worship purposes of Shia community. However, the said land would be owned by the provincial government, said a statement issued here.
The monthly stipend for religious and prayers leaders of minorities in the province was also approved by the cabinet. The cabinet was told that there are around 293 Christian, Hindu, Sikh, and Kalash prayers leaders in the province and the project will cost estimated Rs 140 million annually.
Chief Minister KP had announced the monthly stipend for minority prayers leaders in February this year. The Cabinet also approved Regional Transport Authorities' restructuring under the Motor Vehicles Ordinance (MVO) besides amendment in the Local Government Act 2013.
The first ever sports policy were also approved for KP after 18th constitutional amendment to promote sports in province.
As per the new sports policy, one day in a week would be reserved for sports events in all Primary schools and two classes for sports after every other day will be reserved in educational institutions above primary level classes.
The new sports policy will also apply on all private schools in the province. To ensure implementation of the sports policy, all private educational institutions would be required to make registration or renew their registration.
An expert coach will be appointed for every higher secondary school for sports besides holding of special training courses for previously recruited employees under the aegis of Director Physical Education.
For mental growth, motivation and encouragement of students, annual events will be held in all schools besides provision of prizes and establishment of special sports sections in all directorates of education Department.
Sports sections would be responsible for organizing sports events and prepare annual sports Calendar and planned other such like activities for facilitation of students. The performance of all educational institutes would be evaluated with the help of sports colanders.
