ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2018 ) :The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Monday stayed a lower court's proceedings against Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan for allegedly defaming the son of former finance minister Ishaq Dar.
Justice Minagul Hassan Aurengzeb of the IHC heard the case filed by PTI chief through his counsel Dr Babar Awan.
During the course of proceedings, Awan contended that the former finance minister and his son Ali Mustafa Dar were not appearing before the courts despite the Supreme Court's orders.
The Accountability Court had declared Ishaq Dar a proclaimed offender for not appearing in a reference for having assets beyond known sources of income. He argued that the petitions of Dar family should not be entertained as he was not respecting the courts. After hearing the arguments, the court stayed the defamation proceedings of District and Sessions Court against Imran Khan.
