Int'l Road Safety Delegation Visits Rescue 1122 Headquarters

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th May, 2017 ) : An international road safety delegation from the United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand and Italy on Thursday visited Rescue 1122 Headquarters and met Director General Punjab Emergency Service & Punjab Road Safety Authority Dr Rizwan Naseer.
The members of the delegation included Lance Trevor Fogg, Team Leader and Road Safety Policy Specialist, Khushal Khan, Deputy Team Leader, Tony Bowis, Vehicle Safety & Post Crash Specialist, Edoardo Mazzia, Road Safety Engineering Specialist, Stoiciu Andrei, Road Safety Campaign Specialist and Muhammad Shahid, Local Campaign Specialist.
The delegation was accompanied by Hameed Ullah, Director Roads Federal Ministry of Communications, Pakistan.
The delegation reviewed road safety legislation, road safety action plan and gave recommendations for subsequent establishment of Road Safety Authority to prevent increasing number of deaths and disabilities due to accidents.
Presiding over a meeting, Dr Rizwan Naseer said: "The Punjab government has notified the Punjab Road Safety Authority and now we are trying to establish a comprehensive mechanism for improving road safety".
He added: "We have established a Safety Institute where diploma courses are already being conducted and now we are starting diplomas for driving instructors, crash investigators and road safety design evaluation."
