Int'l community should realize its obligation to resolve Kashmir issue: Sehar Kamran

Centre for Pakistan and Gulf Studies (CPGS) President and Senator (R) Sehar Kamran on Thursday said that Kashmiri people were expecting the international community to fulfill its obligations for the resolution of lingering Kashmir dispute.

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Apr, 2018 ) :Centre for Pakistan and Gulf Studies (CPGS) President and Senator (R) Sehar Kamran on Thursday said that Kashmiri people were expecting the international community to fulfill its obligations for the resolution of lingering Kashmir dispute.

Talking to APP Sehar Kamran said India was once again attempting to create the smokescreen of a 'dialogue' with the Kashmiri Hurriat leaders, without taking all stakeholders on board. She said despite brutal atrocities by 700,000 Indian troops in Indian Occupied Kashmir, the spirit in Kashmiri people for freedom struggle could not be suppressed.

Sehar Kamran said that the indigenous struggle for the right of self-determination by Kashmiris had now been ongoing for 70 years, adding, despite deployment of unprecedented number of Indian and using every weapon in their arsenal to destroy the Kashmiri spirit and end their freedom struggle, had failed in the face of the boundless bravery and unbending resolve of courageous Kashmiris.

"India has been using diversionary tactics every time the issue of Kashmir and the inhumane treatment of Kashmiris by India starts gaining traction globally," she added. To a question she said that Pakistan also contacted some other countries on the situation arising out of violence in Occupied Kashmir and their response had been positive.

She said the people of Pakistan stood firmly with their Kashmiri brothers and sisters, adding Pakistan would not turn a blind eye to Indian atrocities, and would continue its efforts to unmask the facade of India as the flagbearer of democratic values.

Their actions were not only a violation of the very basic human rights, as enshrined in the UN Charter, but a roadblock to regional peace and prosperity as well, Sehar said. To another question, she said that undoubtedly, all roads to peace in South Asia passed through Kashmir.

The resolution of the Kashmir dispute was only possible by implementing UNSC resolutions in true letter and spirit, thereby enabling the people of IOK to get their right of self-determination through a fair and free plebiscite, Sehar said.

India had always used diversionary tactics whenever the issue of Kashmir had been raised globally, she said. The resolution of Kashmir dispute was only possible by implementing UNSC resolutions and the people of IOK must get their right of self-determination through a fair and free plebiscite, Sehar concluded.
