MIRPUR (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Aug, 2017 ) , Aug 12 (APP): Veteran Kashmiri human rights activist and Senior Vice Chairman Jammu & Kashmir National Front (JKNF) Altaf Hussain Wani Saturday said Indian government's move to abrogate Article 35A of the constitution was aimed at changing the demographic complexion of the occupied Jammu and Kashmir state.
Talking to APP, Wani said that the abrogation of Article 370 had been the Modi government's priority. It was even included in the election manifesto of Bharatiya Janata Party for 2014 elections, which reflected its intent to alter the demography of the state, he added.
Terming it a big conspiracy against the people of Kashmir, Wani said the amendment in Article 35A would pave a way for India to change the proportion of Muslim population by settling non-state subjects in held Jammu and Kashmir.
The Indian design to convert Muslim majority into minority, he said, would ultimately sabotage referendum process in the state. "Resistance leadership is being implicated in fabricated cases of amassing wealth and properties.
Even the media trial of leaders is part of a well-thought-out plan by Indian authorities," the Kashmiri leader said. Expressing his serious concern over the inhuman treatment meted out to detained Hurriyat leaders, including Chairman National Front, Wani said the world human rights organizations must take effective cognizance of the matter.
