PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Jan, 2018 ) :Central General Secretary of Awami National Party, Mian Iftikhar Hussain Saturday said that democracy is still under a threat and if assemblies were dissolved it would jeopardized the ongoing process of democracy in the country.
Addressing a press conference at Zintara town Ring Road, he said rumors are circling regarding technocrat government and if anything like that happened if would be a setback for continuation of ongoing democratic process in the country.
He said that followers of Fakr-e-Afghan, Baacha Khan and Rehbar-e-Tehrik, Khan Abdul Wali Khan have rendered unprecedented sacrifices for the supremacy of democracy and public gathering of ANP is also an effort to strengthen democratic system in the country.
Mian Iftikhar said that our country is witnessing a nerve wrecking war adding there was a plan that Sind assembly would be dissolved after KP but looming danger has been evaded but threat still exists.
He urged masses to attend today's public gathering as it would help augmenting roots of democracy in the country.
Commenting on the incidents of violence against children, he said that it is a new form of militancy that has instilled fear in children and their parents.
He appreciated the arrest of the culprit involved in Kasur incident and said that what has been done to arrest and punish those who committed atrocities against innocent children in past. He alleged that KP government is trying to hide the culprits of DI Khan, Mardan and Nowshera brutalities.
He said that failure to eliminate crimes is a proof that those who are on the helm of affairs are incapable and inefficient. ANP leader said that existing scenario in our region demands that Pakistan and Afghanistan should sit, remove concerns and devise a strategy against militancy.
He said that vision of Baacha Khan and his policy of non-violence should be followed to materialize the dream of establishing lasting peace in the region.
