Govt's Efforts To Resolve Energy Crisis Lauded

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Dec, 2016 ) : Analysts and experts on Tuesday said that Pakistan Muslim League-N government was determined to overcome energy shortage in the country and eliminate load-shedding till 2018.
Talking to APP, they said that Pakistan was providing an investment-friendly environment to foreign investors by offering lucrative fiscal incentives and conducive business environment. Indus Regulatory System Authority (IRSA) Member Rao Irshad Ali Khan said during the next 25 years, Pakistan would not only be able to meet its energy demands but also produce surplus electricity.
"A numbers of projects are under way to generate cheap electricity through coal-based power plants," he added. Renowned energy expert Dr Gulfaraz Ahmed said that the incumbent government initiated a number of power projects throughout the country, adding that none of the previous governments did anything in the power sector.
He said that the government was focusing on improvement of transmission lines to avoid line losses. The government has also initiated many hydro-power projects as a result of which cheap electricity would be produced." Niaz Kathia, an expert on solar energy, said the government was trying its best to overcome energy shortfall through a number of new power projects.
He said that a strategy had been evolved under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for completion of power projects on war-footing.
