PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Aug, 2017 ) : Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak said that government wants absolute functionality of Local Government (LG) system reducing its dependency on other tiers of governance.
Presiding over a meeting of local government sector at Chief Minister Secretariat here Tuesday he also directed formulation of comprehensive design to define actual power, authority and responsibilities so that targets in local governance system should be achieved.
The meeting thoroughly debated initiatives taken for strengthening and independent local government system in the province. Different enactments, needs and requirements of local government system, unnecessary regulatory framework, inter-government coordination support, actual releases and spending ratio, execution of different schemes and implementation status of these schemes were also came under discussion Addressing the participants, the Chief Minister said government is responsible for its transparent utilization of public money ensuring fruit of development process to people.
He also directed to ascertain that resources were spent according to aspirations and wishes of public. Pervez Khattak directed for the effective field visit to monitor implementation process on different developmental schemes.
Regarding the strengthening of district finance and planning unit, Chief Minister directed to prepare a case indicating functions of monitoring, executing, administering and auditing. KP CM also agreed to the proposal for internal government devolution support committee adding budgetary releases and schedule should be streamlined.
He directed to present picture of spending and utilization status. He also sought a summary for introduction of internal audit mechanism at the lowest tiers of governance. He agreed to incentives and reward to TMA for their efficient performance in raising the resources.
Chief Minister also directed to finalize enforcement of district public safety commission and finalization of regional and provincial complaints committees. He also asked about details of dumping grounds at Tehsil level directing village councils to introduce continuous cleanliness system in their areas.
Administrative secretary LG, Syed Jamaluddin Shah, Secretary Finance, Shakeel Qadir, Additional Secretary LG, Director General, Secretary Local Council board and concerned officials attended the meeting.
