Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has planned establishment of regional blood centers in Abbottabad, DI Khan and Swat regions of the province after taking over Regional Blood Centre (RBC) in Hayatabad, Peshawar earlier July this year
PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Dec, 2017 ) :Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has planned establishment of regional blood centers in Abbottabad, DI Khan and Swat regions of the province after taking over Regional Blood Centre (RBC) in Hayatabad, Peshawar earlier July this year.
Manager RBC, Dr Saba said Thursday that the blood is collected from donors maintaining highest standards that cost more than Rs 4,000 per bag and afterwards it is converted into different components ie: Plasma, Red Blood Cells and Platelets.
She informed that the RBC in Peshawar and blood donating agencies throughout the province would soon be registered with KP Blood Authority established under Blood Transfusion Act 2016.
Project Director Safe Blood Transfusion, Dr Shams Afridi said that government has allocated Rs 260 million for the year 2017-18 to meet requirements of the RBC.We provide blood to patients who are referred to us by six major hospitals of Peshawar including Khyber Teaching Hospital, Lady Reading Hospital, Institute of Kidney Diseases, Hayatabad Medical Complex, Naseerullah Baber Hospital and Maternity Hospital Peshawar., he said.
