Govt Already Notified New NFC: Senate Told

ISLAMABAD,(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd july,2016) : Minister for Law and Justice Zahid Hamid on Friday informed the Senate that new National Finance Commission (NFC) had already been started work after its notification. Responding to a Calling Attention Notice raised by Sassui Palijo about continuous delay in 8th NFC Award, the minister said four working groups were constituted during the first meeting of the 9th NFC on April 28, 2015.
He said the commission has received three reports of working groups while fourth one was being finalized. As the commission would receive the fourth report, the NFC Award would be announced, he added. The minister said that 7th NFC Award has been in placed since July, 1 , 2010 and still it was valid.
He said the 7th NFC Award has legal cover under Presidential order. Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani said the NFC should be announced after every five under the Constitution provision.
He said the government announced two fiscal budgets without announcing new NFC Award. He said the small provinces have reservations over delaying of new NFC Award and population census. He asked the minister to convey the reservations of small provinces to the Prime Minister. Earlier, Sassui Palijo alleged that the government was not announcing new NFC Award resulting frustration of small provinces.
