GCU signs MoU with IKIU

Government College University (GCU) Lahore on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Imam Khomeini International University (IKIU), Iran for research and academic collaboration

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 07th Dec, 2017 ) :Government College University (GCU) Lahore on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Imam Khomeini International University (IKIU), Iran for research and academic collaboration.

GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah and IKIU President Dr Syed Abu Hassan Naimi through Dean of Humanities Dr Bagherali Adelfar signed the accord at a graceful ceremony organized by the GCU Directorate of Academic Planning and External Links (AP&EL) at the University's Syndicate Committee Room.

GCU Dean Faculty of Languages Prof Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Shahid was also present. The universities have agreed to launch a joint research support program whereby they would host PhD and MPhil students from each other's university for a period of six months to one year, and provide them accommodation and access to laboratories and libraries besides other necessary support.

Dr Bagherali Adelfar said that it was a prestigious moment for IKIU to sign research collaboration with the alma mater of Allama Muhammad Iqbal where the poet of East also taught for several years.

The IKIU dean also sought the guidance and support of GCU in strengthening their English Literature, Chemistry and Biotechnology departments. Vice Chancellor Prof Hassan Shah said GCU was actively strengthening research and academic ties with foreign universities to share best practices, training of faculty members and exchange of students at postgraduate level.

He said that MoU with IKIU Iran would certainly play a key role in further strengthening the research programs of their Persian Department. GCU Dean Prof Iqbal Shahid expressed the hope that GCU and IKIU would work together for strengthening bilateral relations through art, sports and cultural activities.
