Pakistan's education sector is needed to be developed up to the mark to ensure right of getting quality education to every person

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Oct, 2017 ) :Pakistan's education sector is needed to be developed up to the mark to ensure right of getting quality education to every person. Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Regional Chairman and Vice President Manzoorul Haq Malik expressed these views in a meeting with Akhuwat Foundation Executive Director Dr.Muhammad Amjad Saqib here on Tuesday.

A large number of business communities from various walks of life were also present and discussed Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Concerns. Malik added, "It's time to strengthen our education system since education not only enriches peoples understanding and enhances their technical capabilities of exploring new ideas but also improves the quality of their lives and leads to broad social benefits to individuals and society".

He mentioned that more than 15 million children were still unable to get school education and more than 40 percent population of Pakistan was living below the poverty line. He appreciated the idea of 'Buy a brick to build a University', asserting that role Akhuwat Foundation was appreciable for society and it would impact the lives of millions in the years to come.

On this occasion, Dr. Amjad recalled, 'Sixteen years ago we took this initiative when we gave Rs 10,000 to a deserving lady and she returned after some time. Now Akhuwat has Rs 47 billion in its account and Akhuwat has so far disbursed interest-free loans to two million families'.

He said the Foundation was already running two colleges educating more than 400 students and soon it would open a university in Lahore where deserving students would get free of cost education or return fee after getting their job.

Dr. Amjad said, "Akhuwat University is universal project. It is above race, color, and religion as the beneficiaries are not only the Muslims but the Christians, Hindu and Sikhs too. We have set 20 percent quota for every province including FATA'.

Former FPCCI Vice President Khawaja Zarar Kaleem and former Gujranwala CCI President Ikhlaq Ahmad Butt welcomed the idea of the university and suggested a similar project in Gujranwala city. They appreciated different projects of the Foundation and said it was obligatory for each of them to play their due roles in the education sector to help eradicate poverty from Pakistan.
