Election Commission Of Pakistan Removes Nawaz Sharif's Name As Party President From Its Record

Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday removed the name of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif as President/ party head of Pakistan Muslim League (N) from its record.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Feb, 2018 ) :Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday removed the name of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif as President/ party head of Pakistan Muslim League (N) from its record.
According to an order issued by the ECP, the name of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif as President/ party head of PML (N) shall be deemed to have been removed from the election record with effect from July 28, 2017.
It said the name was removed in pursuance of the directions contained in the order on February 21 by the Supreme Court of Pakistan in constitution petitions number 37 to 45, 47 to 51 and 54 of 2017 and civil miscellaneous appeal number 244 of 2017.
Meanwhile, through another letter issued by the ECP to the acting Secretary General PML-N Ahsan Iqbal, said that the commission has removed the name of Nawaz Sharif as party head of PML-N from its record.
It added, since the office of President PML (N) has become vacant with effect from July 28, 2017, accordingly, the secretary general is required to fill the vacancy of the party President in accordance with Article 15 of the Constitution of PML-N under intimation to the ECP for further necessary action.
