KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Oct, 2016 ) : The Defence Housing Authority (DHA) has taken a number of measures to improve security in the residential estate. These steps include installation of state-of-the-art cameras at all exit and entrance points, and focal venues and commercial centres for ensuring effective surveillance in the area, an official of the DHA said here on Tuesday.
DHA Vigilance teams are making efforts to transform the residential estate into a secure place so that residents could move freely and fearlessly in the area. This is in accordance with DHA's progressive vision to provide a qualitative, secure and safe living environment to its residents, the official further stated.
DHA Vigilance also assists/substantiates the Sindh Police efforts by carrying out patrolling, monitoring and checking of violations of byelaws on daily basis in the DHA.
The department has 800 CCTV Digital Cameras installed in DHA for early warning/reaction against crime.
DHA Vigilance also conducts raids with the help of Station Headquarters, Sindh Rangers, Police and CBC on guest houses, giving illegal shelter to criminals. DHA Vigilance is also making efforts to eradicate sprawling Sheesha parlours in DHA which have become a menace.
DHA Vigilance teams recently conducted raids on various Sheesha parlours in DHA Phase-VI and confiscated huge cache of smoking material, some 800 `huqqas' and related other products like Sheesha powder, Sheesha flavours and parts of huqqas. These were later destroyed by burning and the Sheesha parlours were closed down.
