DC Directs Coal Mines To Ensure National Holidays For Labourers

HYDERABAD, May 4, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 04th May, 2017 ) : The Deputy Commissioner of Jamshoro Munawar Ali Mahesar directed the coal mines to ensure that their labours are not compelled to work on the national holidays.
According to a press release, the DC chaired a meeting at his office on Thursday with the owners of the coal mines at Lakhra.
He referred to the May 1 incident when a coal mine denied a holiday to its workers and one of its labours was killed in an accident inside the mine.
"The government will take action against owner of a mine if the labours are made to work on the holidays and if any accident at a mine cause harm to or death of a labour," he warned. Taking notice of the miners' complaints about extortion, the DC directed the police to take action against the outlaws who were seeking extortion from the mines.
He informed that the Sindh Labour Department would compensate the deceased labour's family with Rs. 500,000.
