Daycare Centers Being Set Up Throughout Punjab: Minister

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Nov, 2017 ) :Provincial Minister for Women Development Department Hameeda Waheed-ud-Din on Tuesday said the Punjab government had taken a number of concrete steps for women empowerment as they were playing an important role in the national development.
She was speaking at the inauguration of daycare centers at Government Degree College, Satellite Town, Bahawalpur and Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture Multan. Principals of the institutions, teachers and a large number of students were also present on this occasion.
Hameeda Waheed-ud-Din said that with a view to facilitating working women, daycare centers were being set up across the province under a phased programme. She said that more than 85 daycare centers had so far been established while more such centers would be set up during current fiscal year.
She said that Pakistan could not make progress without active participation of women folk, adding, "Pakistani women are very talented and have proved their abilities in different sectors of life." The Minister said that jobs quota in government sector for women had been increased from 5 to 15 percent.
She said that working women hostels were also being set up in various districts for the benefit of working women. She said that the government had ensured socio-economic development of women by taking further steps for protection of their rights under women packages.
Hameeda Waheed-ud-Din appreciated the standard of available facilities at daycare centers. The Provincial Minister also distributed certificates among domestic workers on completion of training at Vocational Training Institute (Male campus), Kumharanwala Chowk, Multan.
