ASTORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Jan, 2018 ) :The district administration here on Friday started crackdown against all those shopkeepers and traders, who illegally occupy footpaths and extended shops' shades and warned them for its immediate removal.

Assistant Commissioner Sher Afzal Khan told media persons that crackdown against encroachments on footpaths and shades in front of shops were started.All the shopkeepers and traders were strictly warned for its removal, otherwise strict legal action would be taken against them.

He said footpaths were constructed for facilitation of people and pedestrians, not for placing of goods.

He maintained it was creating problems of traffic jam and congestion that was unacceptable.

Some shopkeepers have the habit of loading goods on footpaths for sale and purchase by forcing people to come on roads and thus hampering smooth flow of traffic. He said cooperation of traders and shopkeepers was imperative for smooth flow of traffic besides cleanliness in the district.

The Deputy Commission has already issued instructions to police to check all entry and exit points of the district and keep a close vigil on movement of suspected elements for maintaining law and order.
