ASTORE,(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Jan, 2018 ) :Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan, Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman here on Friday directed the Secretary Energy to take prompt measures for bringing improvement in energy regulation system for benefits of the people.
He expressed these views during a presentation by the Secretary Energy on different power projects. The CM said the pilot project of smart meters has remained highly successful and its positive effects was coming with numerous benefits.This project aimed to provide uninterrupted power supply with full voltage to them.
Following success of this project at Kanodas, smart meters should also be installed at Zulfiqarabad and Noor Colony and gradually it should be extended to all areas of Gilgit to stop wastage and stealing of electricity.
The government has introduced alternative sources of energy including LNG to cater the ever growing energy needs of people, he maintained. The CM directed the Secretary to expedite work on slow pace projects besides directing contractors to ensure its timely completion.
He warned to take legal action against contractors failed to complete their projects in time.
The CM said the government was taking concrete steps to bring further improvement in the electricity transmission system so that it could bear load of extra energy after completion of mega projects.
He said PML-N government has inherited problem of energy shortfall due to poor policies of past regimes and has accepted this challenge after assuming the power. The CM said load shedding free Pakistan was the dream of PML-N leadership and surplus energy would be availed after completion of mega energy projects in the country.
Smooth electricity was being provided to industrial consumers and all areas where line losses are low and recovery is good were exempted of load shedding. He said construction work on mega projects at Baizal, Hunza, Attabad and KIU after completion would not only end load shedding but also give enormous boost to industries and business activities in the province.
