Balanced Use Of Fertiliser A Must To Preserve Soil Fertility

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Apr, 2017 ) : Experts at an international seminar on Tuesday called for ensuring balanced use of fertilisers to preserve soil fertility and increase productivity.

The seminar was arranged by the Institute of Soil and Environmental Sciences, University of Agriculture Faisalabad. Chairing the session, UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said that imbalanced use of fertilisers was not only decreasing soil fertility but also causing a damage of billions of rupees to the national economy.

Institute Director Dr Javed Akhtar called for raising awareness among the farming community about the balanced use of fertilisers. International Plant Nutrient Institute Consulting Director middle East Munir Al Rusan called for enhanced efforts and tangible research work to overcome the issue of imbalanced use of fertilisers.

Asif Ali from Engro Fertilizer said that climate changes were posing a serious threat to the people and food security.
