Awareness Seminar on HEC's Technology Development

A one-day awareness seminar on Technology Development Fund grant, organized by HEC Islamabad was held here Tuesday

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Oct, 2017 ) :A one-day awareness seminar on Technology Development Fund grant, organized by HEC Islamabad was held here Tuesday. The objective of a series of TDF grant workshops to be held in different cities is to raise the awareness about TDF application process.

The TDF team of R&D HEC, convened by Ghulam Sarwar made a detailed presentation on eligibility criteria and significance of program. Ghulam Sarwar, Project and Field Coordinator, TDF said, HEC provides a list of funding opportunities, categorized to help our faculty in finding the best opportunity given their skill sets.

Under the TDF Grant, he said, grants up to Rs. 14 million will be given to support the innovative idea. He further said, the role of Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) in this case, is pivotal to bridge the academia with industry.

He appreciated the efforts of Dr. Abdul Shakoor, Director ORIC to expedite the process of arranging and gathering faculty for the purpose.

Engr. Prof. Dr. Noor Muhammad, Pro-Vice Chancellor UET Peshawar, said, HEC is committed to support the practical projects with much-needed resources to build products.

"Faculty and young researchers of UET Peshawar are committed to get maximum benefit from such initiatives in order to serve as engines for socio-economic development of Pakistan, he added. Briefing on writing a successful proposal, Tariq Aziz Chaudhry, Match Making Manager said, any researcher with an innovative idea or at the stage of initial research for product development is eligible to apply for HEC's Technology Development grant, adding, the Principal Investigator would need to constitute a team with a g prospective industry which can take up the product for its commercialization and marketing through submit a proposal.

The workshop was attended by a large number of faculty and postgraduate students. Dr. Khizar Azam Registrar and senior faculty also attended the seminar.
