PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 06th Mar, 2018 ) :Speaker of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Asad Qaiser here Tuesday submitted his reply to the Peshawar High Court in a case related to contempt of court for not taking oath from Baldev Kumar, elected on minority seat.
Hearing the petition, the PHC had ordered Asad Qaiser to administer oath to Baldev Kumar; however, Asad Qaiser could not comply with the court's order due to brouhaha in the Assembly's session. The treasury benches and opposition had opposed administering oath to Baldev Kumar, triggering a contempt of court notice to provincial assembly Speaker.
During the hearing, the court asked as to why oath was not administered to Kumar despite court orders. Advocate General KPK assured to comply with court orders in letter and spirit. Speaker KPK Assembly Asad Qaiser and Minister for Information Shah Farman appeared before the bench and assured of complete compliance with court orders despite the allegations on Baldev Kumar.
Kumar has been accused of murdering Soran Singh, elected on minority seat, who was advisor to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak. He is currently facing a trial by an anti-terrorism court in Peshawar.
