MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Nov, 2017 ) :Over 400,000 youngsters from Punjab will be imparted technical training under Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF) to enable them earn livelihood through self-employment initiatives or availing opportunities in foreign countries.
Assistant manager technical PSDF Zohaib Haq said this at a seminar at Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) last Monday evening. The PSDF is an initiative of Punjab government being executed with the assistance from United Kingdom's Department for International Development and over 200,000 youth have already been trained in 200 different trades under the initiative, Zohaib said.
He disclosed that PSDF was starting another initiative 'Industrial Training Programme 2018' seeking active involvement of business and industry. He said that youth would be provided training in accordance with the feedback from industry and private sector would be required to provide jobs to around 50 per cent of the trained youth and PSDF would pay a suitably handsome amount to the industries concerned as training expenses.
The PSDF would enter into agreement with industries before initiating training that would be held at the industries or at technical institutes that have signed the agreement with PSDF. However, in case of providing jobs to 80 per cent of the trained youth, the government would exempt trained youth from written examination of Punjab board of Technical education and diplomas or certificates would be issued to them on the basis of only viva.
He said that a separate programme can be launched for Multan next year provided industry gives good response. Former senior vice president of MCCI Khawaja Muhammad Hussain said that PSDF was a revolutionary initiative for youth to acquire skills and build their career.
He said that PSDF should focus more on South Punjab and provide training to youth under special incentive package keeping in view the demand of the future.
