3800 Policemen To Guard Shoppers On Chand Raat, Eid Congregations In

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jun, 2017 ) : The Rawalpindi City Police has finalized a security plan for Chand Raat (Eid eve) and Eid-ul-Fitr congregations, under which about 3,800 policemen will be deployed outside mosques, Imambargahs and open places to provide security to the worshippers.
Some 500 police officials would be depolyed in Murree, with a special package for those who would perform their duties to protect the lives of motorists and keep flow of traffic smooth in hilly station, City Police Officer (CPO) Israr Ahmed Abbasi said in a statement here on Saturday.
The CPO said additional police personnel had been deployed particularly to cover main city markets, mosques and Eid congregations.
He directed the policemen deployed on security duty to have metal detectors with them to search the participants.
Walkthrough gates should be installed atimportant places where the Eid congregations would be held, he added. He said special directives had been passed on to police officials to ensure patrolling in their respective areas.
He said that negligence in duty would not be tolerated and strict departmental action would be taken against policemen in that regard. He urged the public to cooperate with the police in curbing terrorism and immediately inform the authorities after observing any suspicious movement in any area of the city.
