100,000 TDPs of South Waziristan return to native areas: Political Agent

PESHAWAR,(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st july,2016) : The return process of the affectees of Operation Rah e Nijat in South Wazirsitan Agency has been started as a caravan of 373 families in 142 vehicles reached their native areas under Pak Army's security arrangements. According to political administration, the return process of TDPs of South Waziristan Agency, which was started on July 20, would continue till October 15, 2016. On the first day, the caravan of 373 TDPs families in 142 vehicles was seen off by Political Agent South Waziristan Agency Zafar islam Khattak and Pak Army Colonel Imran from TDP camp Khargi. The Political Agent and Col Imran presented garlands to TDPs families and congratulated them upon their return to their respective native areas in South Waziristan. TDPs Rehmatullah Mehsud, Gul Badshah and others said they are very pleased to return to their areas after nine years and vowed to utilize all their energies and resources in rebuilding of their houses and areas much better than before.

They thanked Pak Army for flushing out militants and establishing durable peace in their areas. The Political Agent told media persons that the process of repatriations of TDPs has been started with directives of Governor KP and with assistance of Pak Army, Fata Secretariat, political administration South Waziristan Agency.

Every TDP repatriated family is being provided Rs10000 through mobile SIMs for transport besides Rs25000 for other house hold expenses. The areas where TDPs are moving back has been cleared by the Pak Army and social welfare projects like education, health and water etc has been completed in these areas, he said. The Agency's administrator said TDPs whose houses were completely destroyed during the operation would be provided Rs 4 lakh and owners of partially damaged houses will receive Rs1,60000. In the first phase, he said 20000 to 25000 people of 67 villages would be returned, adding that earlier 100000 TDPs have been already repatriated to their native areas.
