Malnutrition Among Schoolchildren Worsening:experts At University Of The Agriculture Faisalabad

The experts during inauguration of Nutrition Mela at University of the Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) on Thursday said that junk food, unawareness, and un-affordability were worsening schoolchildren malnutrition situation.
FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Feb, 2018 ) :The experts during inauguration of Nutrition Mela at University of the Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) on Thursday said that junk food, unawareness, and un-affordability were worsening schoolchildren malnutrition situation.
National Institute of Food Sciences & Technology (NIFST), Faculty of Food, Nutrition and Home Science (FFNHS), UAF arranged the nutrition festival which comprises of healthy food stalls, nutrition assessment, family food street, and others.
In this connection, a workshop on nutritional awareness of school going children was also held at UAF Iqbal Auditorium to review nutrition and food safety curricular. Speaking on the occasion, UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Iqbal Zafar said :" Junk food has become common in our society that is not good for health.
The simplicity and traditional food habits would help improve the situation". He said the UAF had developed a book titled "Awareness about balanced diet in schoolchildren" by the NIFST under the project of Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN).
Faculty of Food Nutrition and Home Sciences Dr Masood Sadiq Butt, Dr Muhammad Azeem, member Food Security and Climate Changes, Planning Commission, CEO District education Authority Rana Muhammad Shabbir, National Institute of Food Sciences and Technology Director General Dr Tahir Zahoor, Aslam Shaheen from Planning Commission and Nutritionist Binish Sarwar Khan also spoke.
