Last hope for Pakistan's Olympics' future collapsed with the defeat of Najma Parveen in women's 200 meter race

KARACHI, (Pakistan Point News – 16th August, 2016) : The last hope for Pakistan's Olympics' future collapsed with the defeat of Pakistani female athlete Najma parveen as she failed to qualify for the the main round of women’s 200 metre race on Monday. Najma finished last in the race and took 26.11 seconds to reach the finish mark. She was the last among the country’s seven-member assemblage upon whom pakistani hopes were depended but unfortunately she also became the last one to knocked out of the Games.

Earlier, Judoka Shah Hussain also failed to make it to the final round, who was one of the three Pakistanis to qualify for the mega event. 24 years of deprivation have been passed since Pakistan made upto winning an Olympics medal. Hussain who succeeded in qualifying for the second round of judo was knocked out by Ukrainian Artem Bloshenko in men’s 100 KG Judo event. Before Hussain, shooter Minhal Sohail and swimmer Haris Bandey, went out with ineffective chores.

Pakistan’s flag bearer Ghulam Mustafa Bashir and Liana Swan, who competed in men’s 25-meter rapid fire pistol event and women’s 50-metre freestyle respectively, could not help Pakistan break its medal curse either.Pakistani hockey team for the first time failed to qualify for the grand event. Not even a single boxer could qualify for the Olympics although one of Pakistan’s two non-hockey medals came through boxing in the Games’ 1988 edition.
