First Ever Citizens Budget Of District Charsadda Presented

Centre for Peace and Development Initiatives (CPDI) launched the first-ever Citizens Budget of District Charsada with support of Saiban Development Organization

CHARSADDA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Jan, 2018 ) :Centre for Peace and Development Initiatives (CPDI) launched the first-ever Citizens Budget of District Charsada with support of Saiban Development Organization.

Jamshed Tariq, Project Coordinator CPDI Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa said this is for the first time in Pakistan that citizens budget was developed at district level. For the understanding of budget allocations, a citizens budget is developed in jargon free and easy to understand format.

The purpose of producing this document is to share with citizens salient development budget features of Education, Health, Water and Sanitation sectors in district Peshawar. For the year 2017-2018 total development share coming from provincial and district budget for education sector of district Charsada is Rs.

160,000,000 i.e. 7.4% of total development budget, while Health sector development grabbed 1% share of total development allocation, equaling Rs.

20,000,000. Water supply and Sanitation total development share is Rs.

79,175,000i.e. 3.6% of total development allocations for district Peshawar. Muhammad Arif of Saiban Development Organization said that through this information, citizens of district Charsadda could keep an eye on budget allocations and its subsequent spending.

Resultantly, they would be in a better position next year to present their recommendations for development schemes as per their need. This will also help to promote the culture of information sharing and budget accountability.

This citizens budget was developed under the project Democratic Local Governance for Development in Pakistan which is being funded by European Union and Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom Pakistan.
