ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Feb, 2018 ) :The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik in Indian Occupied Kashmir has said that it is futile for the people of Kashmir to expect justice from the Indian judiciary, as it is no different from the Indian executive and legislative authority.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the resistance leaders in a statement issued in Srinagar said, there is no hope of justice for the daily killings of Kashmiris by the Indian forces who enjoy impunity under black laws like the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and are free from accountability and prosecution.

They said that eight hundred thousand Indian troops stationed in occupied Kashmir were used as a tool to maintain forcible control, and as a consequence of the unbridled powers bestowed upon them, more than one hundred thousand civilians had been killed so far.

The resistance leaders deplored that none of the perpetrators had ever been brought to book or punished although many times the so-called inquiries were set up as an immediate remedy to bring the situation under control and assuage people's anger.

"Once in a while, when the unproved and targeted killing of civilians by the forces' personnel is too obvious, as in the case of Shopian on 28 January 2018 where three young boys were shot at in the head and brutally killed and the administration was forced to file an FIR, all hell is let loose.

There is a hue and cry about 'how dare forces are indicted, and 'will it not affect their morale' is argued," they added. Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik said, the biased and aggressive Delhi-based media goes all guns blazing to defend the involved troops and projects them as victims.

In the din and cacophony that ensue, they said, the basic question of the fundamental right to life of those Kashmiri civilians who are killed in cold blood and of justice for their murder is drowned.

The judiciary immediately comes to the rescue of the perpetrators, and even the attempt at some kind of investigation in the killing is stayed and in such a situation, to expect justice for the young boys killed with impunity is futile, they added.

The resistance leaders said that the political struggle of the people of Kashmir was based on the universal principle of right to self-determination in deciding their destiny. They said that no amount of injustice and repression or the use of brute force and aggression would make the people give up their demand.

"Repression will only reinforce it further," they maintained. The leaders said that resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the internationally accepted norms of justice and fairness was the only way to ensure peace in the region and end the bloodshed and death.
