Germany: Hijab Emoji Designed By Muslim Student

Berlin, (Pakistan Point News – 17th September, 2016) : Rayouf Alhumedhi, 15-year-old Muslim girl living in Germany wants to use emojis to better represent Muslim women becaues Emojis have become a part of everyday life with people often using them instead of words. Rayouf has sent a proposal to a non-profit institute which develops emojis to create a series of headscarf emojis. She points out that there is no representation for 550 million Muslim women who wear the hijab in her proposal, while there is an emoji of a man wearing a turban. The proposal for a hijab emoji comes at a time when Islamophobia is on the rise in Europe. These headscarf emoji will represent 550 million Muslim women living around the globe.
