LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2018 ) :Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the Punjab Institute of Neurosciences (PIN) at General Hospital, here on Monday.

After the inauguration, he visited different wards and inquired after the health of the patients and asked about the medical facilities. The patients expressed their satisfaction and thanked Shehbaz Sharif for best treatment facilities available in the hospital.

The Chief Minister said that serving the ailing humanity was the foremost agenda of the government and public's right had been returned in shape of better facilities. Improving the health sector according to international standards was his mission, he said and that journey of transforming the government-run hospitals according to international standards had been accelerated.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister was told that ten-storey building of Punjab Institute of Neurosciences had been constructed with a cost of Rs. 3 billion. It was a 500-beded facility including 100-bed emergency while two neuro-theaters would work round-the-clock to cope with emergencies.

The eight operation theaters would provide different facilities under one roof and most modern 3 Tesla MRI and 128 slice CT scan machines had been installed as well. Biometric, infection-control, theaters' automation and pharmacy management systems had been introduced in the PIN while round-the-clock CCTV monitoring system had been placed for continuous monitoring of cleanliness and security situation.

Talking to the mediamen after inauguration, the Chief Minister said that some sections of PIN were working for the last few months but this state-of-the-art institution had been fully operationalized today.

As many as eight operation theaters had been set up which could be compared with any hospital of the developed world with regard to facilities and quality, he said and added that best doctors and other staff were available and pathology lab had also been established.

"The pathology labs set up in DHQ hospitals by the Punjab government are no less than international standards but I am happy to see the state-of-the-art pathology lab in this institution," he said.

The Chief Minister congratulated Health Minister Kh. Salman Rafique, Secretary Health Najam Shah, project director Dr. Khalid Mehmood and others and said that patients and their attendants were thankful for establishing this most modern institution.

Replying to a question, Shehbaz Sharif said that the recent UNDP report was self explanatory as Punjab was leading the other provinces with regard to development. "However, the journey is long and we have to reach to the destination by working day and night," he added.

To another question, he said that those who were talking about 100 days were befooling the masses. The claimants of 100 days had ruined the KPK in five years, he maintained. He said, those who had claimed of producing electricity for KPK and rest of the country had, in fact, generated minus six megawatts electricity during the last five years, adding the people would decide about their fate themselves.

To another query, the CM said that duration of load-shedding was reached to 20 hours a day in 2013 and during this period, electricity remained unavailable even during the times of Sehri, Iftar and Namaz-e-Taraweeh.

The darkness of load-shedding had been rapidly depleted due to the continuous efforts of the PML-N government, he added. Shehbaz said that network of best hospitals had been spread in the province and a latest institution had been set up in the provincial metropolis for the treatment of kidney and liver diseases.

Similarly, six hospitals of 100-bed capacity each had been constructed during one and a half years in Kahana Nau, Badian, Raiwind, Sabzazar and other areas, concluded the Chief Minister.
