In this regard, he said, other than the government, the medical institutions and professional organizations could focus on these issues. Successful experiments in this respect had also been conducted in various parts of the world including Pakistan.

He expressed his satisfaction that education and research for the provision of medical facilities was among the priorities of doctors as they were continuously engaged in these matters. The president said diagnosis, treatment and surgery of heart diseases were so much lengthy, complicated and expensive that apart from poor and unemployed even the middle class could not afford these procedures.

One of the reasons behind this was the lack of medical research. The other reason was that the machinery and equipment for the diagnosis and treatment of these conditions was imported from abroad which increased the cost of these procedures, he underlined.

The president said "It is imperative for the protection of human life that the standard of medicine and machinery being used for the diagnosis and treatment should be state of the art." Adjutant General Pakistan Army, Lieutenant General Anwar Ali Hyder, Lt.

The president noted that the prevalence of heart diseases could be gauged from the figures that every year around one million people lost their lives due to these issues in Pakistan.

According to medical experts, unhealthy lifestyle was also one of its reasons.

"There was a very simple and easy solution to these problems in our cultural traditions i.e. always be happy and also try to keep others happy," he opined.

The president said in his opinion, if the life was spent according to the principles of nature by promoting sincerity and well-being in mutual relation in light of religious teachings, facilitating others and limiting the desires, then many issues of the modern era could be easily resolved.

He stressed upon the cardiologist to also draw the attention of people towards the principles of nature as it would also help in controlling the spread of other diseases due to climatic changes.

The president welcomed the local and foreign cardiologists participating in this international conference and expressed the hope that the conference would be successful in achieving its goals and the deliberations among the eminent experts would provide them an excellent opportunity to benefit from the experiences of each other.

It was also satisfactory to note that the scope of Pakistan Army Medical Corps was not only limited within the country but it had also expanded beyond our boundaries.
