BSEK Awards Top Scorer Students Of Govt. Schools

Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK), for the first time, on Monday recognized by giving certificates and shields to top scorer boys and girls from government schools ; appearing in matriculation examination-2017.
KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Feb, 2018 ) :Board of Secondary education Karachi (BSEK), for the first time, on Monday recognized by giving certificates and shields to top scorer boys and girls from government schools ; appearing in matriculation examination-2017.
Top ten students from each gender were included. The event was organized by the board's Academic Research Department. BSEK Chairman Prof. Dr.Saeeduddin was the chief guest. Prominent personalities among others were District Education Officer, Mirza Arshad Baig, BSEK Director Education Research, BSEK Research Officer Mehboob Ali Jafri, Administrative Officer Zia Ahmed, Convener, Save Education Action Committee, Anis-ur-Rehman and General Secretary of this Committee Abdul Rehman Khan.
Parents of the students also attended. Speaking at the ceremony, BSEK Chairman assured that in the future, the board would be regularly holding this awards ceremony soon after the announcement of Matric results.
'It is really great achievement, students of government schools achieved up to 90 percent,' he remarked. He also agreed, in principle, to the proposal that hard-working and talented teachers of government schools should also be appreciated by the board by giving them awards.
He said that the main reasons behind the poor performance of government schools included lack of proper distribution of faculty teachers, inconsistency and frequent change of the officers looking after the Education Department in the province.
And, mostly these are not educationists. 'Senior and good reputed school and college teachers should appointed at least at Deputy Secretary level in Education Department to look after schools and colleges matter because they shall be in better position to understand and solve the issues,' he argued.
He said that there was no problem with government schools and colleges, only better administration was needed. These institutions had produced many personalities known in the world like Dr.Abdul Qadeer Khan.
He advised the parents to trust in these institutions and get their kids admitted there. BSEK Chairman also urged teachers to focus on their teaching and deliver by ensuring maximum participation of students in the process.
About syllabus, he said there was a room for improvement/ up-gradation, but rejected the impression that it was useless. Prof. Dr. Saeeduddin, who is Ph.D in Chemistry, advised students to abide by two principles time management and full concentration while studying. He praised the board's Research Section ,especially Mehboob Ali Jafri.
