Aga Khan University will organize a seminar on sustainable development goals - a global development agenda spanning 17 areas, including health and nutrition - in which the stakeholders will discuss progress made by Pakistan in achieving 169 targets here on November 18 (Saturday)
KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Nov, 2017 ) :Aga Khan University will organize a seminar on sustainable development goals - a global development agenda spanning 17 areas, including health and nutrition - in which the stakeholders will discuss progress made by Pakistan in achieving 169 targets here on November 18 (Saturday).
The organizers while sharing details of the moot on Thursday said new insights about the country's progress in improving key health and nutrition indicators would be discussed by Federal and provincial government officials, experts from the World Health Organization and researchers.
During the event being organized with the theme "Pakistan's health and nutrition challenges in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals: issues and progress," inter-related targets currently being incorporated into the country's long-term planning frameworks such as Vision 2025 and the National Health Vision 2016 - 2025 would be discussed threadbare.
The policy implications of new research on mother, child and adolescent health; stunting; childhood cancer and non-communicable diseases were said to be also examined and debated. An overview of reproductive, maternal, child and adolescent health in Pakistan: why has so little changed? Why have stunting rates not changed in Pakistan? Scaling up maternal and child health strategies in Pakistan; Strategies to achieve SDG targets in Pakistan would be main components of the day long event.
