ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Feb, 2018 ) :A total of 1,194 students were sent abroad on scholarships during the last three years, Minister for Federal education and Professional Trainng Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman told Senate.
In a written reply to the question of Senator Muhammad Talha Mehmood,he said the scholarship policy is based on four principles including equal opportunity, transparency, merit and in accordance with provincial quota policy.
The students are selected through rigorous process rigorous aptitude test.44 students of Azad Jammu and Kashmir were sent abroad on scholarship in last three years. He said 180 students of Balochistan were sent abroad in last three years.
As many as 36 students of Fata/Gilgit-Baltistan were sent abroad on scholarships.
He said 140 students of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were sent abroad on scholarship from 2015 to 2017. A total of 590 students of Punjab had gone abroad on scholarships.
Likewise 190 students of Sindh were sent abroad on scholarships and 14 students were of Islamabad Capital Territory were sent abroad on scholarship. In reply to a question, the minister said that the students were sent Austria, Australia, Belgium, Canda, China, Denmark, Finland, France,Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Korea, Malaysia, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, South Korea,Spain,Sweden, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom and United States of America.
