:KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Feb, 2018 ) : Two-day second Gems Bazaar will start on Friday here at Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, to promote excavation, manufacturing and export of precious and semi precious stones of Pakistan, which are very popular in the world.
Pearls, precious and semi precious stones, loose gems, designer gold and silver jewellery, and beads string will be showcased at the expo-- being organized by All Pakistan Gems Merchants and Jewellers Association (APGMJA) in collaboration with FPCCI.
The timing will be 11:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M., Kashif-ur-Rehman, Chairman, APGMJA Committee on Exhibitions and Media told APP here. He informed that a seminar on "Opportunities and Challenges to Gems and Jewellery Industry in Pakistan" will also be held on Saturday, the second day.
Gems and Jewllery experts, big investors and FPCCI office bearers will speak. Kashif-ur-Rehman, who is also a leading gems and jewllery exporter, said the bazaar would house more than forty stalls of gems and jewellery products (gold and silver) from different areas of the country including Gilgit-Baltistan and Balochistan.
Diplomats from various countries posted here, business and political figures were expected to visit, besides a large number of gems and jewellery lovers. Such bazaars/expos would be held in Lahore and Islamabad as well, with the objective of promoting gems and jewellery industry; from mining of precious and semi precious stones to export of gems and jewellery by exploring new markets in the world.
Hence, gems merchants and jewellery manufactures would have an opportunity for direct interaction with each other through B2B and B2C meetings. The buyers would get these precious stones direct from big merchants at lower prices, he said.
On this occasion, Gems and Jewellery Development Company (GJDC) would install a facility to determine the quality of precious stones and gold, he said. He informed that APGMJA had also held very successful two-day gems and jewellery bazaar here in December 2017.
Mr Kashif said the gems merchants and jewelers had started holding such events after more than two decades on restoration of law and order in the country, especially in Karachi and Balochistan.
After feeling secured, sellers and buyers of precious stones had moved in, to Karachi. Due to law and order problems, the excavation of gems was stopped in Balochistan and Northern Areas which are rich in precious stones.
Foreign tourists had almost stopped visiting Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan, and that also had badly affected the business of gems and jewellery business.
