LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Aug, 2017 ) : Provincial Minister for Higher education Syed Raza Ali Gillani has said that Pakistani youth were the most intelligent among all nations and future of the country was in safe hands.
Addressing students during 70th year Independence celebrations in a ceremony at a private college here Wednesday, he said the youth needed to be optimistic as the country had achieved a lot during a short period since independence in 1947.
Rector Unique Group of Institutions Prof Amjad Ali Khan presented the welcome address. National cricketers Azhar Ali and Faheem Ashraf also attended the ceremony to commemorate the 70th year of independence while scores of students presented national songs to pay homage to heroes of Pakistan movement.
The Provincial Education Minister said the youth must not pay heed to the negative narrative about Pakistan, adding that there have been so many positives for us. He said Pakistan was rated 10 times better than India in developing economies and placed 52nd on the list by the World Economic Forum.
He said our youth were fourth among the most intelligent people in the world.
He said Pakistan had been producing microsoft engineers at a very tender age. He exhorted the youth to be proud of being a Muslim and a Pakistani, adding that the economy of the country would flourish with the advent of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and youth would have more job opportunities.
Later, responding to the queries from the media, the minister said the retest of MDCAT will be decided after the report of the high-level committee constituted by the Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
About the vice-chancellors of five universities, Gillani said the advertisement for the posts of vice-chancellors of Punjab University, UET Multan and others will be processed after approval by the Chief Minister secretariat, he said.
The minister gave away certificates to the position-holders of Unique High Schools in the Matric examination 2017 of Lahore board, Muhammad Abdullah and Fatima Awais during the ceremony. He also appreciated the services of scouts and girl guides. Raza Ali Gillani also sang national anthem with a chorus of boys and girls from Unique college towards the close of the ceremony.
