The rising spiral of prices of winter clothing at the start of winter has forced the people once again to search for warm clothes at `Landa Bazaars' in the city
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Dec, 2017 ) :The rising spiral of prices of winter clothing at the start of winter has forced the people once again to search for warm clothes at `Landa Bazaars' in the city.
Naulakha Market, Nikolson Road, Ichra, Shahdra and some other points where second hand items were being sold attracted customers who were mainly searching for sweaters, jackets, coats, warm hats etc.
Abid, a dealer, told APP on Thursday that used clothes were imported from Europe, USA, South Korea, Australia, Singapore and Thailand and the sales were rising with the change of weather. Some buyers said that high prices of new clothes in all the major markets had forced them to go for second hand items.
Many among them belonged to middle income groups."It is very difficult for a common man to buy a new jacket or a sweater in the prevailing circumstances when daily income of a worker is around Rs 500 to 700 and the price of a jacket is in thousands," said Ejaz Asghar, a labourer at Ichra Market.
Some buyers at the market said it was not just the price but the quality as well that attracted them to `imported items'. They said that jackets and jerseys were durable and comfortable more than new items available in the markets.
"Last year, I bought a new jacket from a well-known outlet at a very high price. It, however, lost its shine within a few days. Then I bought a jacket from the Landa Bazaar for Rs 250 only and it is still in the same condition", Imran said.
Sania, a housewife and mother of two kids, said that Landa Bazaars were a blessing, adding, "I can get fancy stuff for all my kids from the market on cheap rates".
