Speaking at an interactive session with the members of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry here at the Federation House, she said the litigation between the business community and FBR was not in the interest of any side.

And, the alternate dispute resolution was the best option. " Among the government departments, FBR is more open to the business community," she reaffirmed. She was accompanied by a team of senior FBR officials from the Large Taxpayers Unit (LTU).

The prominent on FPCCI side was led by Acting President Irfan Sarwana. Earlier, Acting President FPCCI Irfan Sarwana called for the earliest payment of tax refunds, completion of audit of a company as soon as possible, verification of a company's documents attached to tax returns be completed within seven days.

That, the rectification of an error in tax returns be allowed up to 25 days. Chairman, Pakistan Motorcycle Spare Parts Association, called for translation in urdu of the rules and procedures of FBR relating to tax so that the taxpayers could feel comfortable and encouraged to come under the tax net.

Chairman, Pakistan Tanners Association (Sindh Zone) Aziz Ahmed complained that the amount attached to an account by FBR officials was not being re-paid in time after verification/clearance of the case.

He urged that such amounts should not be included in other refunds and put in queue. This caused unnecessary delay in getting the amounts taken away by FBR officials, he said. The Chief Commissioner assured that some solution would tried to be found for the payment of such amounts.
