Steel Melting Owners Directed To Plant Trees In Punjab

Environmental Protection Department (EPD) Punjab has directed 337 steel melting furnaces and industrial units to plant trees, flowering plants in and outside the respective industrial infrastructure, to overcome pollution and smog in Lahore.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2018 ) :Environmental Protection Department (EPD) Punjab has directed 337 steel melting furnaces and industrial units to plant trees, flowering plants in and outside the respective industrial infrastructure, to overcome pollution and smog in Lahore.
The EPD spokesman said the directives have been issued to all steel melting furnaces and smoke-emitting factories in various industrial zones of the city. He said that beautification of major inter-city roads has already been started and now trees and flowers planting, in and outside of the industries will be carried out, Radio Pakistan reported.
All industrial zones have been warned that heavy fine will be imposed in case of presence of solid waste and effluents outside the industrial units, he added.
