Paddy Nursery Not To Be Cultivated Before May 20

The Punjab Agriculture department Wednesday advised paddy growers not to cultivate paddy nursery before May 20 as a precautionary measure to protect crop from insects.
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Apr, 2018 ) :The Punjab Agriculture department Wednesday advised paddy growers not to cultivate paddy nursery before May 20 as a precautionary measure to protect crop from insects.
A spokesman of the department said that certified varieties of paddy included KS-282, Nayyab ARI 9, ARI 6, KSK 133, KSK 434 abd Nayyab 2013 while Basmati varieties include Super basmati, Basmati 515, Basmati 385, Basmati Pak (Karnal Basmati), Kisan basmati, Chennab basmati, Nayyab basmati 2016, Noor basmati.
He said that hybrid varieties included Y-26, Pride-1, Shehan Shah-2, PHB-71 and others. The spokesman said that unsuitable varieties included Super fine, Kashmira, Malta, Hero and others adding that farmers should not sow these varieties at all because rice produced through these varieties was not of good quality.
