Minorities enjoy full liberty in Pakistan, says Sandhu

LAHORE, (Pakistan Point News - APP - 17th Jan, 2017 ) : Provincial Minister for Human Rights and Minorities Affairs Khalid Tahir Sandhu Tuesday said the PML-N government was fully taking care of minorities' rights in Pakistan.

"Milestone initiatives have been taken by the Punjab government regarding protection of human rights and minorities along with providing them 5% mandatory quota in government jobs, stipends to minority students, legislation in personal laws, empowerment of women and skill development," he added.

He stated this during a meeting with Netherlands Ambassador Jeannette Seppen who called on him here. Matters of mutual interest, promotion of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Netherlands were discussed in the meeting.

The minister said Netherlands was a sincere and trustworthy friend of Pakistan and stood by it in every hour of need.

He said relations between Pakistan and Netherlands had strengthened during the tenure of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

He said Pakistan and Netherlands had similar stance on regional and international issues. Sandhu said Netherlands had always supported Pakistan in promotion education, health, infrastructure, food and other related sectors and hoped that the cooperation would continue in future too.

Netherlands Ambassador Jeannette Seppen said the speedy progress made by the Punjab government was commendable and friendship and bilateral economic cooperation between Pakistan and Netherlands was increasing with the passage of time and efforts of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif were commendable and exemplary in this regard.
