Fake accounts case: IHC reserves verdict in Zardari’s bail plea

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 10th June, 2019) The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has reserved the verdict in the bail plea filed by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur in the fake accounts case.

The verdict will be announced shortly.

A two-member IHC bench comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani heard Zardari’s bail plea in the fake accounts case against the former president.

A special alert has been issued to the Islamabad police over possible arrest of PPP co-chairman Zardari. Armoured vehicles have been moved towards the parking of the court. Police have been directed to maintain law and order in case of his arrest.

The IHC had extended former president Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur's interim bail till today in references pertaining to mega money laundering through fake bank accounts.

The IHC had stopped the anti-graft body from arresting the accused till June 10.

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal had issued arrest warrants for Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari in the mega money laundering case.

The arrest warrants will be presented before the Accountability Court today.

Asif Zardari is expected to be arrested from the court.

On May 14, the anti-corruption unit had furnished details of inquiries, investigations and references in the fake accounts case. In the report, NAB listed down at least eight cases where Zardari's link had been established. It further added that 22 inquiries and three investigations are underway while three references have been filed.
