COAS, CJP signal delay in general elections

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa have signaled a delay in the 2018 general elections

LAHORE (Pakistan Point News - 28th Mar, 2018 ) Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa have signaled a delay in the 2018 general elections.

According to a report published in a local newspaper, the two officials have signaled a delay; however, the election commission does not see a strong reason to delay the elections.

A columnist wrote that according to the CJP, the issue of delimitation of Constituencies has not yet solved while the COAS had recently assured in a meeting with a group of journalists that a free and fair election will be held, that too on time.

However, he did not deny the possibility of a few weeks delay in the elections due to technical reasons. The reasons were not mentioned but they are mostly related to the issues surrounding delimitations of some constituencies.
