Cycling: Giro Looks East As Polish, Russian Teams Invited

MILAN, , (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Jan, 2017 ) - Polish outfit CCC and Russian team Gazprom are among several second division cycling teams invited to the 100th edition of the Giro d'Italia, organisers RCS said Wednesday.
The 100th edition of the Italian Grand Tour, whose prize is the pink jersey, begins in Sardinia on May 5 and finishes in Milan three weeks later.
CCC have already participated in the Italian race, in 2015, while Gazprom scored a stage win last year when Russian Alexander Foliforov won an uphill time trial at the Alpe de Siusi.
All 18 teams competing in cycling's top division, the WorldTour, are automatically invited to the Giro and the rest of the WorldTour races.
