'Pak-Nigerian Ties To Be Further Strengthened'

FAISALABAD, Dec 9 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 09th Dec, 2016 ) : Nigerian Nassarrawa State Executive Governor Umaru Tanko Al-makura on Friday said bilateral ties between Nigeria and Pakistan would be further strengthened especially in the field of agriculture to get benefit from each other potential.
He was talking to Vice Chancellor University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan at the Syndicate Room on Friday. All deans, directors, Registrar Muhammad Hussain and other officials also attended the meeting.
He said Pakistan and Nigeria were enjoying good relations. He added that his country was a natural oil producing one and now his government had put agriculture in the main manifesto. He said the UAF was a very famous university and center of excellence in agriculture.
He added the Memorandum of Understanding would be inked between the UAF and his institutions so that they could get benefitted from the UAF in curriculum development, research and other areas.
He invited the UAF experts to visit his state and work together with their agricultural institutions to support the agricultural sector.
UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said the UAF and Nigerian institutions work in the field of agriculture would result in bringing tangible results. He said agriculture was the backbone of our economy, contributing 21 per cent to the Gross Domestic Product of the country.
He said the UAF was enjoying good relations with the educational and agricultural institutions worldwide. He added that the county was producing surplus production in all major crops.
