Jirga Organised To Remove Misconceptons About Polio Vaccination

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Jan, 2017 ) : Political Administration organised a Jirga (Grand Assembly) to remove misconceptions among people about polio vaccination in Jamrud and make the campaign a success.
According to aprivate news channel, the jirga was attended by the tribal elders, security forces officials and representatives of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and United Nations International Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF).
Jirga was told that the laboratory tests of the samples obtained from the deceased children have been received which have confirmed that these children did not die because of polio vaccination rather the children died due to pneumonia and premature births.
The tribal elders assured the administration that they will continue cooperation for making the upcoming polio vaccination campaign on January 16 successful. The administration has also appointed focal persons in three tehsils of Khyber Agency to maintain contact with the local people for making vaccination drive successful.
The focal persons will convey the grievances of people about deficiencies in healthcare system to the agency surgeon.
