IGP Sindh Chairs Follow Up Meeting Regarding Street Crimes

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Jan, 2017 ) : A mobile software consisting of GSM, Android and other cellular phone would be ready soon. This was informed at a follow up meeting regarding the streets crimes held here on Tuesday with Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, A.D.
Khawaja, in the chair. It was pointed out that with the insertion of SIM card, the said mobile phone's IEMI number would be registered. In case of theft or lost, when the subscriber would block the SIM, the mobile phone would also be blocked.
The software would help make the mobile phone's recovery quite easy. The IGP directed that with regard the software, all stakeholders complete their framework sooner so that the software could be made applicable at the earliest.
He asked the Customs and the IB for effective check of the smuggling of snatched and stolen mobile phones. Khawaja asked the Additional IG Karachi to handover to SIU, the accused caught red-handed for committing street crimes for investigation.
He said that fortnight police performance regarding prevention of street crimes be submitted for perusal.. IGP also called for preparing a recovery website in collaboration with the CPLC. He asked the AIG Operations Sindh for practical steps for screening of new purchased mobile phones.
