A Love Letter to Karachi — a contemporary theatrical performance

KARACHI, (Pakistan Point News - 25th Oct, 2016) : Voiceless movements put up a unique show at the National academy of Performing Arts depicting the story of an outsider is the story of an outsider attempting to fall in love with the wild rhythm of the inner city of Karachi. The marvelous collaboration between theatre director Sunil Shankar and choreographer/ dancer Joshinder Chaggar has molded out The modern contemporary dance drama. This combo along with 12 more dancers went beyond all the artistic abilities and brought up a very unique genre of theatre.

The spiritual features of the city by the coast has been explored by virtue of dance and drama by the cast of fourteen with Shankar in the lead and Chaggar as the Outsider. The play has used the power of gestures and movements to depict the city of lights, Karachi with all of its good and bad moods. The music for this nonverbal artistic portrayal of Karachi has been developed and composed by singer/song writer Ahsan Bari. Showing up for two weeks last August, ‘A love Letter to Karachi’ was performed again at NAPA Auditorium as a joint fundraiser by the Children First - The Society & ‘National Institute of Child Health.
